Creating a Chart from a SharePoint List

Building a dynamic org chart from a SharePoint List

To create a chart from a SharePoint List TeamOrgChart will require you to grant additional permissions.

The permission, or scope, required is Sites.Read.All and this can only be granted by an account with Global Admin rights. This is a one-time operation and can be done from the Permissions page or from the Create Chart page.

Organization charts created from SharePoint lists are dynamic and automatically synchronize with any changes in your list. Updates typically appear in the org chart within thirty minutes, though in some cases it may take longer.

Access the permissions page ( https://teamorgchart.com/toc/admin/scopes-and-permissions) to grant the necessary Microsoft Graph permissions. This action can only be performed by a Global Admin. It is required only once—after the scope is granted, standard users will be able to create and access the org charts.

TeamOrgChart will list the SharePoint sites that you have recently accessed. If the site is not listed, then use the search box to locate it. Once you have located your site the lists available in the site will be shown.

Alternatively you can simply paste the URL of the SharePoint list into the search box and TeamOrgChart will locate it for you.

Once a list has been selected TeamOrgChart will display the fields available in the list. You will need to select:
  • The column that contains the unique ID of the employee
  • The column that contains the manager ID
Then click the Save Selection button to create the org chart. TeamOrgChart will create the chart and take you to the chart page where you can continue to configure your organization chart.
